“I grew up in a low-income, rural community with little exposure to outside opportunities. It was only through sheer determination and a stroke of luck that I uncovered the possibilities in STEM. Contrary to the generic advice I received, I learned that I could actually get paid to go to graduate school in my field and that not every job required a resume, some required a CV. I am on a mission to ensure that no student faces the same limitations and uncertainties I did as I was exploring career possibilities.
